Pesticide Free

Insects are made of structural proteins, very similar to those found in our finger nails and it’s these structures which are key to the increased use of non pesticide methods of control. Heat and extreme cold will change the structures and or lead to the insects losing too much moisture. Similarly, if you can damage the outside ‘waxy’ surface of insects they can also die.

Exploiting these, EBS use a number of techniques:
Freezing- For small items we can bring the temperature down dramatically to kill off eggs, larvae and adults which may be hiding in items

Heat- With our own latest technology heat ‘bubble’ we can raise the temperature above the critical level needed for survival. Our bubble is big enough to take items the size of a mattress as well as other room contents. As well as bubbles, for fixed items we can also use portable steamers to help gain control

Such techniques are great for a number of reasons:
  • No pesticide residues
  • Ideal for use on infested items that can’t be treated with insecticides (children’s toys etc)
  • No resistance- In many cases it’s the only way to guarantee 100% control of some insects.

As well as temperature control, we also use lower impacting products. Diatomaceous Earth is 100% natural and works on a basic level by ‘scratching’ the insect skeleton so it loses moisture. Although slower than many chemicals – it is totally pesticide free and much safer in many sensitive areas.

Even when chemicals are needed, we have access to a number of other professional natural products  - for example natural pyrethrum which are extraxted from chrysanthemums and give a very rapid knock down of insects but without leaving a long 'residual' of insecticide.
