Anti-perch wires

'Bird-Wire' - Anti-Perch Wires

Commonly known as 'Pin and Wire, 'Pigeon-Wire', 'Sprung-Wire or 'Spring-Wire'. It is effective against Pigeons and Seagulls, but not birds much smaller than Pigeons, such as Starlings and Sparrows.

It is commonly seen in many of the same locations that the anti-roosting spikes would be employed - pipes, ledges, sills etc, sometimes for cost benefit but often because it is more discreet than the spikes.

It is however only designed for low levels of pest bird activity and will not resist repeated attacks from established pest seagulls or pigeons trying to overcome it. We will advise its suitability on your site from our survey.

Below are some images from sites where EBS have installed Bird-Wire.

Multiple rows pigeon wires fully protecting a wide cornice ledge

Multi-holed stainless-steel rods can be fixed into vertical brick or stone to allow installation of spring-wires to protect narrow or wide ledges.

Here, we have six rows...

...And here, we have just two rows.

Pigeon wires fitting to round pipes
Bird spring wires can be adapted with circlips welded to base for fitting neatly around pipes.

Custom made seagull wires on a parapet
Custom made, stainless-steel Seagull wires along length of aluminium parapet - stops Gulls fouling over edges.

The most commonly seen pigeon wires are pictured here, drilled straight into stone ledges to protect them.

Note the grey mushroom plugs below the pins which are designed to minimise rainwater running into the holes. Without these, frozen water sub-surface could cause fracture.

This isn't actually a 'from new' EBS installation, rather its one we repaired after painting works were complete.

Within the first window reveal, you can see the four rows of Bird-Wire taken into the face stonework.
This isn't the optimum installation method as the first and third rows should be lower than the others to stop pigeons walking below the front or straddling the                                                                   middle rows.

Pigeon wires can clamp onto to narrow edges like gutters
Versions of Bird-wire can also be made to clamp on to edges, such as gutters and beams.
